Testimonials: Achieving Peak Performance "Regardless of how many years you've been a parent, a teacher, and/or a coach, you can gain valuable information by participating in this course. Whether our day ends when the bell rings or we participate in coaching students, we can always find someone or something which can inspire us to do a better job - this is the something. So much information is compacted into five days, this is the perfect way to gain those professional hours!" Barbara Hartings, Centerville, OH "Best grad class I've taken... the information and topics covered from peers and the instructor along with their suggestions and experiences was great... I came away from this class with REAL tools/ideas that can be used immediately in my work environment." Tony Petersen, Elkhorn-Kimballton, IA HS Teacher/Coach/AD
"How much I have to learn! After completing these courses in the presence of some truly great professionals, so much I have been able to pick up on that would have been of great benefit to me over 20 years ago when my coaching journey first began. The low-key approach is one that promotes sharing of many ideas and strategies that I had truly not thought about until brought up by the distinguished colleagues and speakers that these classes had to offer. These classes are a "must" for every young coach and teacher (and even administrator) who thinks that their livelihood may in any way revolve around young people. I consider it an honor to have been exposed to some truly great ideas cultivated by some of the best in the business." Mitch Rew, Malvern, IA
"This was the best graduate course I have taken. The materials used and the methods of presentation were very stimulating. I have taught and coached for 31 years. This course needs to be given in some form to 1st year teachers and coaches. The ideas and passion of the speakers, videos, other students, and instructors are invaluable to estimate. This course has rejuvenated me for the rest of my educational life. This course is about caring, motivating and inspiring our students. It would be a tremendous boost to anyone involved in education. I believe Superintendents, school board members, and other peripheral individuals should take this course." Dennis J. Coudeyras, Beatrice, NE
"The course had a lot of great material and variety. I liked having the speakers come in and share personal stories!!! The info was very motivational. Excellent course. Very personalized. I would rate this course a 10!" Jennifer Roach, Atlantic, IA Teacher
"This course was a great inspiration for myself. I did a lot of self evaluating during each day and this experience has helped me realize what I need to do to become a better coach. I only wish I would of had the chance to take this course at an earlier stage of my life. This was an experience that I will never forget and one that will benefit my coaching and lifestyle for years to come." Daren Sagedahl, Olivia, MN
"When signing up for this course, I thought by just the description this looked like a good class. Boy, was I wrong! A truly GREAT class that I would recommend to any coach or teacher. The course content was excellent. There is a great balance of readings, group work, videos, and great speakers. By taking this class, each student will be able to take back at least one important concept with them. The instructor was very professional and inviting with this class." Mike Schulte , WI "This was one of the most enjoyable and beneficial graduate classes I have taken so far. It combined a wealth of knowledge through the readings, books, videos, and speakers, while also giving us time to interact with our peers in the class. This peer interaction is lacking in almost every district I've been employed by in the past. I found being able to discuss situations with other coaches and teachers was as valuable as the content." Mark Rogal, Kettering, OH
"This course is an excellent opportunity to recharge your educational battery. Collaborating with colleagues can be as refreshing and enlightening as anything else I've done this summer. Plus I've taken several ideas and strategies back to my class to get me to a higher level of instruction. Though I don't coach anymore, material in this class can be applied to my class and my life." Ronald Hartman, Sumner, IA
"Wow! I think this is a course all teachers and coaches should take. The material covered is excellent and it is very helpful. I truly feel like I am better prepared to face all of the "stuff" I have to deal with in the class and in coaching." Dean Reiter, Faribault, MN
"Achieving Peak Performance is a must take class for teachers and coaches. So much info and help is presented in 5 days. I have been teaching/coaching for 17 years and I'm walking away with several ideas to enhance my teaching and coaching." Bob Scandridge, Lynnville-Sully, IA "This was one of the best courses that I have taken. The principles taught in this class can be applied in all teaching settings. It will be helpful to me in my work with non-motivated students. The principles of positive thinking helps staff as well as students." Margie Morrison, Rapid City, SD
"Achieving Peak Performance was more worthwhile and informative than any course taken while completing my M.S. Degree. The course content was excellent and well presented by the instructor. I would definitely take another course taught this way." Chris Berry, Harrisburg, IL
"I took a lot of classes in college and I have to say this by far was the best class I have taken. The discussion with the rest of the class and the instructor was outstanding and I know I will be able to use the material for my benefit." Tom Petersen, Exira, IA 7-12 PE Health/Athletic Director
"Achieving Peak Performance was a great course. I would definitely take another course like this one. I found out what my football program was missing and also gave me some great things to use in the classroom. This course gave me great insight into how student/athletes learn, progress and succeed in the physical and mental parts of athletics. It gave me the shot in the arm I needed for the upcoming school year." Jon Leverenz, Bloomington Jefferson High School, MN "Excellent on a scale of 1-10, definitely a 10!" Mike Larsen, Atlantic, IA Elementary PE K-3
"This course was worth every penny. The content of the class and knowledge of all the participants made this a very enjoyable time. This was a very stimulating class, very exciting. The instructor did a fabulous job." Achieving Peak Performance, Stevens Point, WI
"What a treat to take a continuing education course that can actually be applied to your classroom or team. Having the opportunity to share thoughts and ideas with your peers is invaluable. So many wonderful ideas and techniques were shared. The information I received will easily be applied." Bill Beattie, Head Football coach, Olympia High School, WA
"This class was better than college. Practical, useable ideas, from some of our own peers. Great discussions! Great people! Great ideas!" Jon Holliday, Solider, KS "Many teachers and coaches are always looking for courses to enhance their ways of motivating students/athletes and increasing achievement. This course is one of the best I have found in doing just that! Not only do the instructors offer new tactics and approaches to motivating and increasing success, but they also discuss how to work with parents. Being able to participate in small and large group discussion about several issues teachers and coaches face today let me know that I am not alone. I walked away refreshed and ready to incorporate the new tactics in my classroom and with my athletic teams." Lisa Kloke, Fitness and Health Teacher, Middle School/High School girl's basketball and softball coach,WA
"I feel the course was very worthwhile. I was extremely interested in the areas of positive reinforcement, performance feedback and performance enhancement. Leadership effectiveness and communicating effectively were also interesting topics. I think this is one of the most interesting and valuable coaching classes I have taken. I would be interested in taking another course of this type. This course is beneficial for all coaches and beneficial for classroom teachers also. The course content is excellent and the videos and class activities are outstanding. Our course instructor did an outstanding job leading the course. I highly recommend this course for all educators." Ken Winkler, State Center, IA "I thought the course 'Achieving Peak Performance' was the best course I have taken since college. I have been coaching for 33 years and I wish I had taken this course at the beginning of my career rather than at the end. It covers all the "other" stuff a head coach must use to be successful. I thought our teacher, Lee Day, did an excellent job breaking up the course with videos, guest speakers, small group discussions and readings. I liked the stories other students shared with the class on what works and what doesn't. I am sure what I learned from this course will make me a better teacher and coach in the years to come. I would take a follow up course if one was offered by Antioch." Steve Sheehan, Head Football Coach, Oak Hills, Cincinnati, OH
"This course was one of the most informative, enjoyable and meaningful courses that I have ever taken. I have learned so much from this class. It would be worthwhile and beneficial to educators at all levels to take this course. It provides teachers and coaches with practical and positive techniques. These new ideas will help me motivate students and understand them. It also offered an opportunity to look at the ways I coached and taught and will help with my self-evaluation and planning for the future. What a way to motivate a teacher for the coming school year." John Schuable, Lake Zurich , IL
"This was definitely a well worthwhile course. It gave us new ideas and concepts to take back with us and reinforced some things we do already but maybe could improve on. The videos on motivation and attitude were outstanding. The best was the interaction among my peers. It was better than any course I have taken. Great Job!" Tom Strasser, Achieving Peak Performance, Columbus, OH
"I have been in the education profession 15 years plus. This is the single best class I have ever taken. I have learned more about teaching and coaching in this class that I can even mention. To be an effective teacher and coach, I must first be a good person. This class is the best people class I have taken. I know I will be a better person because of this class. Thank you!" Vince Spease, Rapid City , SD
"I truly believe this class will be more valuable to me as a teacher/coach than any other course/clinic. The insight of the speakers, classmates, and materials used during this class are second to none. Every teacher and coach should have to take this class before heading into the classroom or locker room. I think the class structure is what sets it apart from other classes I've taken. All of the assignments are used to make me a better teacher/coach and not just hoops to jump through. Best money I've ever spent." Steve Throne, Nebraska City, NE
"This was one of the best courses I have taken. Great selection of videos, excellent speakers and a very knowledgeable instructor. Dealing with parents and attitudes really gave me insight on a lot of areas. I would definitely take another course like this. The content was excellent!" Keith Myers, Head Basketball Coach, Logan High School, OH "I feel this course was the most beneficial teaching and coaching class I have ever taken. The course topics were right on track with what coaches/teachers are faced with every day. I enjoyed the motivational strategies and goal-setting segments. I hope that this course is offered for others in the future. I would also like to see Achieving Peak Performance II offered next year." Dave Ewing, Ankeny, IA
"Achieving Peak Performance was a highly beneficial class for the classroom teacher who does not coach at all. As a teacher, you are a coach in the classroom on many different occasions. Day 1 of the class focused (Williams text) on "setting up an effective coaching program". All of the strategies discussed are very transferable to 'setting up an effective classroom.' The information presented on motivating athletes works well in the daily classroom and when preparing students for state wide testing. I would highly recommend this class for teachers, coaches and administrators." Rhonda Crawford, 4th grade teacher, East Olympia Elementary in Tumwater , WA
"This course has offered me new insights into helping my students and athletes to "be all that they can be." Besides some new ideas, it helped to reaffirm things that I do already that work. It allowed me to have open discussions with other teachers and coaches about these subjects of motivation, attitude, success, etc. What a great way to be refreshed before the start of another school year." Barbara Brondyke, Clinton, IA "This course was invaluable to me as a coach. Moreover, this course will increase my effectiveness as a teacher. Motivation will be a key point to both the classroom and field. The ability to be with others in my field can't be measured. Knowing things you are doing are great and learning things others do to improve their students is great. I would personally suggest all administrators and extra-curricular people take the course." Mike Moulton, Math, Science, English, History teacher, Jr. High Football and track coach, WA
"I really feel that this is an excellent class for teachers and coaches due to the fact that it taught ideas and strategies that can be used in the classroom and on the playing field. I enjoyed the different ways in which the information was presented from the instructor, guest speakers, videos, readings and class discussions. I enjoyed this class much more than others that I have taken simply because it addressed so many of the problems teachers and coaches face in their profession. It was nice to be able to share stories with colleagues and realize that our problems are not isolated incidences. I have come away from this class with several ideas that I feel will help me become a better teacher and coach which ultimately benefits the kids I work with. The knowledge and experience that our instructor, Rich Bechard, brought to the class was excellent. He did a nice job of focusing on topics that were most important to the class. I would not hesitate to recommend this class to anyone and I am already planning to take Developing Excellence in Others when it becomes available in Kansas." David Petry, Math teacher, Lawrence , KS "This course was the best I have taken in my teaching/coaching career. I would take this class of a follow-up in a heartbeat. This class would fit for any person in a position of leadership. The course content was outstanding and the educational materials fit the topic. The activities made the class flow very well. Everything was designed perfectly." Lyle Pagel, Rapid City, SD "I will recommend this course to my colleagues. It has been very beneficial in helping me to become a better classroom teacher and coach. The variety of activities and all of the interaction and feedback from fellow students really was a great experience." Tim O'Brien, Oelwein, IA
"This class was great! As a classroom teacher and not a coach, I found this class to be very helpful. I especially enjoyed the motivational videos. I would recommend that all coaches take this class. If you have a son or daughter in organized sports, please encourage his or her coach to attend this class." Barb Dinsmore, 5th grade teacher, Lakota Local School District, OH
"The Achieving Peak Performance course is one of the most worthwhile educational experiences I have had the pleasure to participate in. It is a very practical class that would benefit all teachers, administrators and coaches. The content of the course deals with topics that are crucial to success in the classroom and the athletic arena. The course emphasizes the use of the democratic classroom, clear expectations, and positive corrections. It dealt with handling discipline, individual conferences, and parent/teacher relationships. The course identified the need for support systems for teachers and coaches and suggestions for creating a nurturing educational environment. The class was highly interactive and there were many teachable moments shared by successful educators in many different disciplines. The instructor facilitated an interesting, enthusiastic environment and looked forward to learning from successful people daily. The cornerstones of the class were 2 engaging texts and videotapes that dealt a wide range of topics. I'm looking forward to Developing Excellence in Others that focuses on team building." Denny Cullinan, Ass't. Exec. Secretary, IA Basketball Coaches Assn.
"The course was very worthwhile, not only as a coach but as a 3rd grade teacher. The focus on the mental aspects and the confidence building was very helpful. The guest speakers and videos were great. I'd be very interested in taking another course. This course is about "teaching." It doesn't matter what kind of classroom you're in. As a 3rd grade teacher, I plan on using all of what I've learned in my classroom. Excellent content and leadership. Randy did a super job teaching the course! The materials and activities were good and it all worked toward meeting the course objectives." Bob Shanahan, Adams , NE
"This class was one of the most useful classes I have taken. I am going to recommend this class to my peers and fellow workers. Currently, I am not a coach. Everything I have learned in this class will be applicable in my fourth grade classroom. I did a great deal of self-examination and I know that it will lead to improvements. This class has led me to reexamine my own definition of success. I am leaving this class with valuable tools to implement into my life and work." Terice Ketelhut, Miller, SD
"Monday- I can't wait for Friday Tuesday- This is better than Monday Wednesday- This is fun Thursday- This is what all coaches and teachers should take. Friday- It's Friday already. I want more." Andy Groff, Teacher/Coach. Alma School District, WI
"Excellent class!! One of the best graduate courses I have taken. The content is very applicable whether you are a rookie or veteran coach. I appreciated the opportunity to both share and listen." Teresa Kehe, Tripoli, IA
"I found the course, 'Achieving Peak Performance', to be one of the most beneficial courses I've taken as a student. Looking back, I can't believe the week is over! As I entered the classroom each morning, I was motivated to learn new strategies and concepts within my current leadership position. Each day I gathered numerous ideas from conversations, articles, videos and text readings that I could apply to my program. Along with our instructor, our group interactions were excellent. I intend to implement the materials and the helpful strategies immediately. I truly believe that if a follow-up course is offered, everyone in this class would take it. It is certainly worth the time." Stacey Deaton, Achieving Peak Performance, Lebanon, OH "This is an outstanding class. The topics discussed in Achieving Peak Performance are relevant to anyone who works with students/athletes. The concepts are taught in a practical manner so you can walk out of class and implement the strategies immediately. The best part of the class is discussing the "other stuff" and how to deal effectively with those things. The class provides the day to day practical applications that all teachers/coaches want in dealing with the stressors that occur in our lives. I strongly recommend this class for everyone." Tim McGowan, Rapid City, SD
"I was pretty apprehensive about taking classes this summer as my time is so spread out year round. Linzi (Gronning), as the instructor/presenter kept me interested and excited about what the next days activities would involve. There was great information and helpful handouts. Change anything?? Offer this class more!! I would recommend it to others." Deb Schaefer, Teacher/AD/Coach, Melrose-Mindoro, MN "I have been in teaching and coaching for nineteen year and this was the best class I have ever taken. The exchange of ideas and new techniques that I learned in this class will be invaluable in future years. I highly recommend this course to all coaches and teachers. It will give you more and a better perspective on life. This was a great week!" Mitch Osborn, Harlan, IA
"This class has rejuvenated me for my next seasons of coaching. I plan on using many of the things I learned in my coaching/teaching next year. It does not matter if you are a first year teacher/coach or a 30 year veteran, this course is for you. It was thought provoking/enjoyable to hear from other coaches/teachers from around the state." Lonna Wanner, Aberdeen, SD
"This was a very worthwhile course for me, a general music teacher who has always struggled with parental interactions. I felt the more difficult aspects of leadership were addressed directly; how to handle the irrational parent; how to train championship thinking; how to keep from burning out. This class differed from other grad courses by the kind of reading. The articles were succinct, to the point, and understandable. The material was relatively easy to read and comprehend but also to apply. I liked its simplicity. I didn't have to wade through complex terminology and concepts that had little application. I found 90% of the material could be applied to the classroom as well as the sports field." Gabrielle Taheri, Music Teacher, Michael T. Simmons Elementary, WA "The course delivered on the expectation. It reinforced a lot of concepts that may be looked at as common sense. Keeping things simple, hard work, be neat, classy, and flexible. The course reminded me of why we do things, it is about the kids, and having fun. Finally, how honesty keeps things very easy in life. This is a course I would recommend to any parent, teacher, administrator or coach." Jim Williams, Edina, MN "This course started out for me as an opportunity to move on the pay scale and maybe pick up a little something along the way. I was tired and our season was just beginning. As this course ends I see the deeper value, need and gift that Achieving Peak Performance has given me. I am rejuvenated, energized and ready to start the season. I am looking forward to working with the players, communicating better with the parents and getting through 'the other stuff' with a little more ease. Achieving Peak Performance is not only about the ability to get our players and programs to the top; it's about getting ourselves prepared, motivated and confident to share what we do with the kids, parents and community we work in and for." Lisa Verage, K-5 Elementary P.E.,Kessler Elementary & Volleyball Coach, Mark Morris High School, Longview , WA
"Achieving Peak Performance class met all my expectations coming into this course and went beyond. The instructors really gave powerful messages through their delivery of the content. The discussions about the reading material and videos helped to give me insight not only as a teacher but as a parent as well. Thanks for a great course and terrific instructors." Jennifer Moore, Special Education, East Olympia Elementary,WA
"This course is one of the best courses I have ever taken. The information in this course will not only make me a better coach and teacher but more importantly, a better parent. The instructor of this course, Don Tolkacz, is the best instructor I've had for a graduate class. Don's knowledge is impressive but to me the passion he shows for kids is what makes him not only an incredible instructor, but a great person." Mitchell Brabender, P.E. teacher, Basketball, Volleyball & Track coach, Franklin Middle School, Green Bay, WI
"As a non-coach, I was very pleased with the content. I could easily translate concepts presented to teaching and advising. I also developed better insight into the difficulties and joys of coaching. I felt the information about goal setting, dealing with difficult parents and viewing students as individuals were especially useful. The classroom discussions were lively and energizing. Don (a master teacher!) promoted diverse perspectives, set up an environment encouraging all of us to be comfortable and yet kept us moving. As a non-coach, I felt the class was excellently taught and presented a lot of useful information. Teach another class!" Achieving Peak Performance, Pulaski , WI
"This was an excellent course that helped me become more aware of the whole student/athlete and what I as a teacher can do to help that student/athlete succeed to the best of their ability. This was very motivating and inspirational and would be beneficial to any coach, teacher or parent!" Chris Destito, Everett, WA
"I didn't know quite what to expect when registering for the course but I have been pleasantly surprised at what I have learned. Recently I have been questioning whether or not it is 'worth it' to continue coaching when having to deal with all the responsibilities and expectations that are placed on us externally. It has been refreshing to be reminded of why we chose to be an educator and coach in the first place. Many helpful tools and insightful information was shared and applied. I sincerely feel I will be able to take what I have learned about being a successful coach and teacher and put it into practice, and make a difference in the lives of the students/athletes that I work with." Christine Sluke, Wantoma High School , WI
"I have been coaching for 25+ years and have attended numerous coaching clinics and seminars. If I can pull one good idea from a clinic I am usually very happy. Achieving Peak Performance far exceeded my expectations. Whether you have been coaching for years or just getting started this class will be a great benefit to you. I would highly recommend this class." Achieving Peak Performance, Stevens Point, WI
"A positive experience from the instructor's opening remarks, I felt good about why I had decided to take this course. There were new concepts and strategies presented and reinforced and many techniques previously learned but often forgotten or pushed aside. Mike Devine did an outstanding job creating an atmosphere for making connections with fellow educators and coaches. He was well prepared and organized to stimulate thinking and facilitate discussion. Mike is very articulate and he clearly explained the format of the class and his goals and expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed the ground readings and discussions afterwards. It provided an opportunity to cover a range of topics and issues while promoting interactions with other professionals. A 5 star course. Mike Devine is a true professional. I will recommend this course to fellow educators." Luanne Fait , WI
"This course was very worthwhile for me as a teacher and former coach. Listening to all of the other students and the class material was very informative. This class has been the best class I have taken in regards to helping me as a teacher. The objectives of the class were met and the instructor was exceptional in leading discussions and organization of materials." Jane E. Mains, P.E./Health teacher, Fairland High School , OH
"This course has not only given me a great amount of information, but also practical and useful applications. It was more than theory - it was something I can take back and put into action!" Britt Samson, Huron, SD
"Best course I have taken in three summers of graduate course work. Many ideas I have used during my coaching career were reinforced. I got a tremendous amount of material from one of the videos. As a matter of fact, I ordered it!" Greg Phillips, Defensive Coordinator, Jackson High School , Jackson , OH
"The positive reinforcement strategies and character building ideas were outstanding. I will recommend this to teachers, coaches and parents that I come in contact with. Excellent stuff! Brad Nemec is an outstanding instructor! Thank you!" Achieving Peak Performance, Shell Lake, WI
"This is by far one of the most successful coaching classes that I have taken in my sixteen years of coaching high school athletics. This course gave me a chance to introspect and to re-charge my batteries. I was able to take many ideas, concepts, and strategies back to my school and immediately implement them with positive results. I will definitely encourage our entire athletic staff to attend future Achieving Peak Performance classes. The content was excellent and group discussions were highly beneficial. Our instructor, Richard Bechard, is highly qualified to teach this class. In one short week, I realized how lucky Holton High School was to have an athletic director with his abilities. He is an exceptional teacher and leader." Pat Boeh , PE Teacher and Head Football coach, Ottawa High School , Ottawa , KS
"If you are a beginning coach or have been coaching for 20 plus years, you need to take Achieving Peak Performance! I've been teaching and coaching for over 26 years and walked out of class recharged and excited to try some new techniques. What really impressed me was the fact it reinforced some of the things I'm doing presently, but yet at the same time there are some things I want to change. It doesn't matter whether you are from a small school or a large school, there is something for everyone. I really wish our entire coaching staff was here with me this last week. If you are looking for something that will improve you, your athletes, parents and staff, you need to take this course." Mark Peck, Social Studies teacher, Track Coach, Overland Park , KS "Achieving Peak Performance is a very informative and helpful class. The work and reading involved is extremely relevant and any teacher or coach will be able to gain ideas, insight and a new perspective after taking this class. Whether you are inexperienced or have taught/coached for over 20 years, this class is very beneficial. Today's students are changing and this class is very up to date with techniques, programs, research, and ideas to help today's teacher/coach. I feel this class has changed the way I look at my students and how I go about bringing the best out of them." Nate Sims, Laurel, NE
"This absolutely is the best class I have taken in regard to continuing educations. All of the topics covered in the week are the things that we face as coaches and educators in athletics today. I gained many ideas that I look forward to using in my own coaching. And, the best part of the class was the instructor, Tom Keating. He did a great job on touching on all the issues, bringing in guest speakers pertinent to the class, and the handouts, also. To be able to sit in on one of his classes was a great privilege." Marla Simon, Rewey, WI
"Achieving Peak Performance was the perfect course for me to attend after a hectic school year. This course was refreshing and uplifting because I realized I was not alone in the education/coaching profession. The stories that were shared, the athletes that we questioned and the guest speaker were all beneficial to any educator or coach. We spent quality time discussing real-life situations, analyzing and evaluating outcomes. I never felt intimidated to ask a question or share a story, and I always received positive feedback or answers. The instructor was obviously educated and experienced with all subjects talked about. Information, stories and advice was extremely interesting and helpful. He supplied a very comfortable atmosphere and enjoyable week. Thanks for offering this course and I will not hesitate to attend another one like this." Cher Greving, Elementary music teacher, Logan , KS "This course is the first that I have taken that has been extremely practical and relevant to my career as a coach and teacher. I've learned more about motivating, how to understand our student/athletes and doing what's best for them and us than any clinic, seminar, or teacher education class I have taken." David Hinsch, Lindstrom, MN
"I feel that this class was an excellent class for coaches and teachers in that it taught concepts and strategies that can be used in the athletic arena and the classroom. The informational experiences related by the instructors and participants were helpful in knowing that we as coaches and teachers aren't alone in the problems and situations that arise and knowledge in knowing how to handle those situations will help us in the future. The instructor (Mike Karl) is highly qualified and conducted the class in an environment of openness and sincerity, along with complimentary knowledge. I would encourage any coach, teacher or administrator to attend a class of this kind." Wilhelm Braun, Middle School teacher, Brownell , KS "This course was excellent! Out of all the classes I've had in my life, this would have to be one of my favorites and one of the best. I learned many things that I will apply to my coaching and teaching." Scott Yates, Elk Horn-Kimballton, IA K-12 Health & PE, Coach
"I thought that the course Achieving Peak Performance was extremely motivational and worthwhile. I was feeling negative about myself and this class provided me with both the "kick in the pants" that I needed and the positive reinforcement that I am doing a good job. Everything that I learned in this class transfers to the classroom because that is really what a teacher is; a coach of a particular subject. I would definitely take another class that is taught in this manner. The level of stress was reduced due to the cooperation between the students and the time blocked for getting work done. The instructors made the environment 'safe' to express very personal feelings and scenarios that were at times, emotional. This is the type of class that anyone who is not feeling 'positive' in their place (in the classroom, at the office, in a relationship) needs to take to help re energize and rebuild their faith in one's actions and self worth." Rebecca Kline, Rapid City , SD
"Achieving Peak Performance is a must take class for teachers and coaches. So much info and help is presented in 5 days. I have been teaching/coaching for 17 years and I'm walking away with several ideas to enhance my teaching and coaching." Bob Scandridge Lynnville-Sully , IA "I didn't know what to expect from Achieving Peak Performance. I have come away with many ideas I can use with my athletes and students. I recommend any coach, teacher, administrator and athletic director attend this excellent week long workshop. The handouts and videos will enable me to return to my athletes and students and implement the great ideas I received at this workshop." Kent Kavanaugh, Walla Walla, WA
"Thanks Bob for offering this class in So. Illinois . Jennifer Stanley did an outstanding job. It is obvious she is a very experience, knowledgeable, caring teacher/coach. I learned so many different things from my fellow coaches, videos, readings, speakers and our teacher. I've coached for 24 years, but was amazed by how much new stuff I can use with my team. Thanks again for the breathe of fresh air and pumping new life into my job for me. I also felt I made new friends with everyone in my class. The class structure really bonds everyone together." Kelly Glass, Metropolis, IL
"The class Achieving Peak Performance was a very worthwhile and beneficial class. At the time I took this class I was currently not coaching, but still found the class worthwhile from a teaching standpoint. I will be able to use many of the strategies and concepts that I obtained from this class in my classroom. This class was loaded with very motivating videos and guest speakers. I am looking forward to taking the second class that Bob Fink has written." Jim Bezoni Aurelia , IA "Great course - part of me wishes we could meet even longer. I now feel a bond with the coaches I shared this experience with, and will follow their careers in the future." Larry Blake, Manning, IA
"Bob, the topics and concepts in this class were awesome. I learned so many new things and activities that I can enhance my own classroom and coaching techniques. The instructor, Larry Munksgaard, did a great job. I was nice hearing his point of view from a larger school. I will definitely tell colleagues and teachers about this class. It is very informational and inspirational. I would be interested in follow-up classes." Leisa Rogers, Ashland, NE
"This is one of the best graduate courses that I have ever taken. I was able to reflect, get energized and hear new techniques that work for students/athletes. I would recommend this course to all teachers/coaches." Mark Kluber, Cedar Rapids, IA
"This course was extremely beneficial to me as a coach, teacher, and as a person. The skills and strategies I learned are directly applicable to all three phases of my life. I especially gained from the small class size and group discussion. The readings were beneficial and the following discussion really reinforced what we learned. More than anything else, I strongly feel that interacting with other coaches was helpful to me. This type of forum is not offered enough, but should be." Ben Ellis, Cedar Rapids, IA
"I would encourage any educator to take this course! I have been teaching and coaching for 20 years and this course re-energized me like no other. The discussions, videos and hand-outs gave me new meanings in dealing with today's youth. The positive message sent throughout the week will benefit me for the rest of my teaching career. It was definitely a refresher for me at this point in my career. I strongly encourage any educator to take this course." Dan Roberts, Beaver, OH "Achieving Peak Performance is a class that every educator and coach should take! Not only does it inspire you to want to be a better coach by learning about different successful coaches but it encourages you to be a better overall person. This class is definitely worthwhile and I would encourage others to attend." Tauni McGraw, Onalaska, WA "I haven't taken a course in which I got so much actual help and good ideas I could use. I don't get excited about a class, but I did with this one." John Sims, Eagle Butte, SD "How refreshing to take a class on a topic and from a person that has practical application to my day to day work and life. The topics and discussions were not only valuable but the manner in which ideas were openly shared validated them by means of personal testimonials. I'd take another class in this series in a heartbeat." Brett Bartlett, E. Olympia, WA "The course was one of if not the best course I have ever taken. I looked forward to coming and would love more courses like this one. I will take many concepts and ideas back to my job. The quality of this course was superior in all aspects." Tom VanDyke, Red Oak, IA PE & Coach "This course got me rejuvenated to get into my classroom and be ready to teach with energy and enthusiasm. The use of videos, small group discussions, speakers and a great instructor made the course such fun. I'd highly recommend the course to any person involved with students of any age."
